y, tasting wines paired with delicious canapés in various stations inside the exclusive 250 year old cellar while listening to the mesmerizing sounds of Gerald Clark and enjoying a relaxing gourmet “braai” with the Bosman Family.

This unique opportunity will be a glimpse in the 8th generation family story of vine to wine and promises to be a discovery in the synergy of Bosman Family Vineyards and Lelienfontein Vine Nursery.

It is also a wonderful occasion to meet the family behind the wines and enjoy the sheer beauty of theWellington countryside.

Of fascinating interest -(did you know that in South Africa ONLY wines that are produced from vines that have been grafted on to a American rootstock can be certified? so none of the wines that we know like Sauvignon Blancs, Pinotage or Merlot etc are bare root planted!!)

This intriguing and somewhat challening process of vine grafting & nursing will be on display during the day. Wellington is known as “the cradle of the South African Wine Industry” with close to 85% of all vineyards planted inSouth Africacoming from vines that have been grafted and nursed in Wellington.  Lelienfontein Vine Nursery is one of the most successful vine nurseries in the Southern Hemisphere and was established in 1888.  Generations’ worth of knowledge and experience in vine growing, site selection and the ability to source from a wide variety of plant material has given Bosman Family Vineyards an excellent advantage in the making of their wines.

The wines that will be released on the day will include, from our Upper Hemel-en-Aarde vineyards near Hermanus: a 33 grape varietal Rosé from our nursery vine garden as well as a maritime climate Sauvignon Blanc; from our Wellington vineyards: a maiden Méthode Cap Classique made from Steen from Lelienfontein; a very popular and highly acclaimed Adama Red blend of Shiraz, Mouvèrdre, Primitivo, Cinsaut & Viognier; a Chenin Blanc made from old bush vines planted in 1952 and a Cabernet Sauvignon which was recently selected as the Best Red Wine from the Wellington region at the annual Wellington Quest for the Best Competition.

A festive harvest table atmosphere await guests attending this special annual event, while they can feast on delectable gourmet “braai” treats  whilst enjoying copious amounts of the newly released wines.  If your taste buds are yearning for more wine by the glass or bottle from the private tasting room will be on offer.

The Bosman Release Weekend promises to be a celebration in the 8th generation Bosman family story from vine to wine.
