Signal Restaurant at The Cape Grace Hotel Cape Town

With the backdrop of Devil’s Peak and Table Mountain, the cool Atlantic sea breeze whistling between the many luxurious yacht moored by the terraces and the call of the odd cheeky seal makes the iconic new lady of Cape Town the most desirable place to hang out – The Cape Grace Hotel!

What an impressive delight, as you approach this glorious hotel from the V&A Waterfront from the pedestrian gate over the Dry Dock you start to get a sense of anticipation of what this elegant lady of Cape Town has to offer.

This was the destination for our much anticipated tasting menu experience for Tiny’s birthday recently at the SIGNAL restaurant. The opulent luxury is embracing transporting you to a whole magnificent world of sense sensations.

The superbly knowledgeable sommelier introduced us to some magnificent bubbly as an aperitif in the bar and easily chatted away about some fabulous new wines that he had just discovered.

The seven course menu was phenomenal, Tiny and I had something different for each course – we were totally impressed with the chef managing this and the sommelier finding different wines for each course for both of us – never once deviating from the outstanding quality expected of these culinary professionals.

By the end of the evening – we would have willingly accepted a wheelbarrow ride back to our taxi waiting to drive us home.

A splendid evening – but definitely for a special event being pretty pricey.

However I am delighted to see that they have introduced a 3 course tasting menu which will be so much lighter on the pocket and on the body – which means for me I can go back more often – YAY!!!
